My I am Poem

I am energetic and unpredictable

I wonder about my future

I hear my heart pounding

I see people laughing

I want to relax

I am energetic and unpredictable

I pretend I am a professional

I feel grass under my feet

I touch the stock of my gun

I worry about my career

I cry when I’m hungry

I am energetic and unpredictable

I understand I am not ninja

I say weird things

I dream I am a ninja

I try to be well behaved

I hope I set a good example

I am energetic and unpredictable

Hello my name is Tim

Farming. You’ve all heard of it, seen it, and don’t want to be the person who works there. But what you don’t know is that farming is one of the most challenging jobs there is. It may look simple, but actually it isn’t.

Farming consists of two main areas. One is crop farming; this is where your farm is more of a plantation. You can farm corn, maize, potatoes, onions and pretty much every other vegetable or fruit there is. The second main area is animal farming. You can farm many different animals. One is cow farming, also known as Dairy farming. This is largely based on milking the cows, selling the cows, calving the cows and obviously looking after the cows. Another is porcine farming. This means pig farming. In this job you must care for the pigs, sell the pigs to the freezing works (the butcher) and occasionally be the butcher yourself. Those are the two largest areas of farming known today.

The first of many highlights in farming is how when you sell someone something, you may become to know them and find some very interesting characters in your society that you never knew existed. After interviewing Anthony Farrell, he said “Its ruddy hard work, but it all pays off when you see the beautiful morning sun and the healthy animal that are springing around”. You can also see the early morning sun while most people are sleeping and hugging their teddy bears thinking “Ill get up in 15 minutes or so”.

Now for the very few downs there are. One is the early mornings, it may make you grouchy and tired but it may not. Another is the late nights. This may also get you grumpy but again it may not. The last of these little setbacks are some of the animals. They may seem extremely stupid but you must remember that their brains aren’t as evolved as ours so just calm down and be fair.

Here are the qualifications needed to be a farmer; you need to have studied agriculture for four years. This can be done through university or farm school. Whilst in university you can take the agriculture classes and learn about the specific types of grass that can be harmful to your animals, you can also learn about the animals that you intend to farm and so on. Or you can go to a farming school such as Telford, Flock House and so on. If you go to Telford for example you can be taught how to ride horses, make fences and learn the amount of food or water your animals will need to stay healthy. Once you have finished your how many years you are doing at your university or farm school, you will be awarded a certificate to show that you know all the things you need to know about being a farmer.

This is the pay that the farmer will receive on average for everything he/she sells. For dairy farming the pay is.
1 calf = $200-300.00
1 Heifer (young female cow) $500.00
An elderly female cow is also $500.00
1 Bull (Elderly male cow) $1000.00
So the pay for being a farmer is extremely generous.

These are the traits that you must have to be a farmer. You really, really need to like animals if that’s what you are going to be farming. You must love to be outside as you could spend a lot of time outside. One thing you can’t be is forgetful. You mustn’t leave four hundred animals in a paddock while you’re on holiday. You could end up in jail for that sort of animal cruelty. It is also helpful if you can stay calm. You can’t panic if your missing something, you must stay calm.

A typical day in the life of a farmer is getting up early in the morning, milking the cows or feeding the pigs, or watering your plantation. Then as the day wears on, if you are farming cows, you must move your animals around as to get them through the milking process so that you can get their milk before it goes bad. You must also move your pigs to get them some time outside if that is what you are farming. Next you can move your animals around so they do not run out of grass or water because that can cause serious illness to your animals. The day should be near ending so now you must lock up so no animals run away or be stolen. After a hard week at work many farmers have a beer with their friends and have a good chat.

Farming suits me because I thoroughly enjoy being with animals and watching them spring and jump around everywhere. I also love being outside under the sun doing something, I just can’t stand doing nothing. I also am a right brain learner which explains why I love animals. I am also a kinaesthetic learner which is helpful, as you must know how to push all of these buttons that are very confusing. Another reason I like farming is when I see that these animals are healthy and I have helped in everyway to keep them that way. Lastly I am practically a farmer now and I just find it very, very fun, I can’t explain why but I just like farming lots.

Farming helps our community in a countless amount of ways. Just some are pork, milk, beef, chicken, fish and mutton. Farming also helps to employ millions of men and women across the globe. The faming of sheep supplies people with the wool that makes carpets, couch stuffing’s, jerseys or raincoats and quite a few mats. So farming does help everyone’s community everywhere in the world.

All in all, farming is an extremely self satisfying job that everyone should try. Many people have said it changes you in a good way. If it weren’t for farming, the world wouldn’t be the way it is today .So remember, farming truly has had an awesome impact on our world today.
